The HCW shall perform a full range of clinical psychology services in accordance with the core privileges and/or supplemental privileges as defined by BUMEDINST 6320.66E and approved by the Commanding Officer.
Administer programs of treatment to mentally and emotionally disturbed individual adjustments to life; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
Assist in treating rehabilitation patients.
Establish whether psychological counseling for emotional distress might improve chances of treatment success; provide treatment at various stages of pain management.
Interview patients and study medical and social case histories.
Diagnose and evaluate mental and emotional disorders of individuals and administer programs of treatment coordinated with remainder of R4 Pain Teams as well as R4 Regional Specialty Teams.

Possess a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) Degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from a doctoral program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) Commission on Accreditation (CoA).
Possess and maintain an active, valid, unrestricted license or certification to practice as a Psychologist in any one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Have documented successful completion of a Psychologist intern program which has been approved by the APA.
Possess two years of post-education clinical work experience within the preceding five years in Clinical Psychology.
Possess and maintain a current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration number (certificate) to prescribe controlled substances as listed in 21 C.F.R. 1308.
